In terms of views, 2025 had a stunning start! In this period we have the most beautiful sunrises. They only last for a couple of minutes, so you need to be lucky and quick to catch them. Lucky us that we have to go out to find our diabetes cat early every morning...
We had to let go of our sweetest dog Jane 💔🖤❤️🩹 In spite of the bad weather conditions and holidays last week, we tried everything we could to to save her...unfortunately without success... She was one of the puppies we rescued in 2017, so she has been with us for quite a while. She was sweet, patient, modest, clumsy enthusiastic and so much more. Of the 4, she was in the lead to watch over us and our guests and appeared the most maremmano. We miss her like grazy already. Her monkey eyes, her happy curly head, her positive presence...The remaining 3 dogs are timid and have to find a new balance together. She will be in our hearts for ever! 💞

About time for some updates here...😅 We can look back at a long and nice 2024 season, with great new and returning guests and good reviews! In autumn for the first time this year, our olive harvest was big enough to go to the 'frantoio' on our own. Our extra vergine olive oil tastes great: grassy on the nose and spicy in the mouth. For interested guests: we sell it as well. Outdoors we have prepared most areas already for winter and storm (which we had already twice, with some limited damage). The winter pruning of the garden is also almost done. Quite a job, considering the size and the amount of plants, but worth it so that our 2025 guests can fully enjoy it's beauty again next season! In terms of activities our time and focus has been shifting again to interior design, woodworking/furniture making and the bag business (Marleen's Design, Joefster & Co, PAUL MECCANICO). Soon we will have more news about that as well. During autumn, while heading towards winter, the views here have been spectacular again!! Some photo impressions that go with the writing...

Time for some updates!! Getting ready for the season... The very mild and dry winter, followed by a wetter and colder period in April (with even snow in the mountains), has given us a lot of outdoor work to get ready for the season! Nature blossomed early, got interrupted by the cold and is now on a growth spurt with a variety of rain and sun... The swimmingpool cover is currently occupied by many tadpoles, that will have to hurry up as we will open the pool next week. Wild orchids in the grass benefit from a broken lawn mower. In between hard work, we still try to find the time to enjoy precious Italian moments with good food and good company. In between we have also been to Milan for the annual largest interior fair Salone del Mobile, to get inspiration for our design and woordworking/furniture business!

Some views of the last few days. After 12 years it still never bores and keeps on fascinating us, especially around this time of the year when the snow is returning.
More and more guests are bringing their bikes when they spend their holidays with us. Our region Le Marche has been developing more and more itineraries fand facilities or bicycles too and so far, our guests have been very enthousiastic about the cycling here and the many options offered. Close to us there are various places now where you can rent bikes (MTB, E-Bikes, road bikes etc) and you can either cycle on your own or go on guided tours and excursions. Together with the numereous walking/hiking possibilites and intineraries (both around our accommodation and especially also in the stunning Monti Sibillini National Park that we have around the corner), this now means that our accommodation is a perfect base for active/outdoor holidays too! Last Sunday we took the #cfmotouforce out for an adventurous ride! With a detour we went to have the traditional Sunday lunch at Vecchio Moro at Lago di San Ruffino (normally a 25 minute orso drive from us). Crossed some small rivers on the way back; Jeroen Bults being the heroic driver! During this tour we once again experienced the beauty of our direct surroundings... At Lago di San ruffino you can rent (E)bikes, canoes etc. and there are 2 restaurants. A beautiful, peaceful place to visit!

Yesterday we dined in the Cantine Saputi vineyard at Agriturismo Villa le Vigne (25 minute drive from us), enjoying very tasty creations of Michel star chef Enrico Mazzaroni from Ristorante Il Tiglio. A very special night! Our region Le Marche offers great and relatively unknow wines (abroad), at a very favourable price-quality ratio. Within Le Marche we are located in the province of Macerata, where we have this special white called Ribona ( https://ribona.it/ ). Le Marche is also the home of several great Michelin star Chefs. Putting these two together resulted in a delightful evening in the vineyard! Saputi's various Ribona wines played the lead role in accompanying the various dishes from Chef Enrico Mazzaroni yesterday. We loved it! Saputi organizes several similar night per year!
Last week we had our own open-air theater with Jeroen’s bonus brother Bruun Kuijt playing Scrooge in the summer for our guests and other invitees. A truly great solo performance against a great natural decor. Everyone really enjoyed this! Thank you for this experience Bruun and also Lies for the sounds!

Een lang weekend of mid week genieten van de ontluikende lente in Le Marche? De natuur loopt volop uit en is prachtig. Het is nog een fijne temperatuur voor outdoor activiteiten als wandelen en fietsten. Dat kan vanaf ons (lokale routes), in 1 van de vele authentieke dorpen hier in de buurt (waarvan er een aantal in de top 100 mooiste dorpen van Italie staan), in de bergen (natural park Monti sibillini, half uur rijden), rond verschillende meren (half uur rijden) en aan het strand (uur rijden). Ook is er veel culinair te genieten van mooie lokale producten in fijne lokale restaurants en tijdens culinaire evenementjes die altijd wel ergens in de regio plaats vinden. https://colpodifortuna.eu/booking-page/
A day in Umbria! Feeding our farmers side by visiting the agricultural fair #agriumbria and so...Surprised to find there also Dutch flower bulbs and strawberry plants! Through a new road opened a couple of years ago between Le Marche and Umbria, it now only takes us around 1h15 to get to this beautiful neighbouring region. Perfect distance for a day trip 😊

Leuk artikel in De Smaak van Italië over 7 mooie plekken in onze veelzijdige regio Le Marche! En er is hier nog veel meer moois te ontdekken... Le Marche is heerlijk authentiek en biedt alles van zee tot bergen binnen beperkte afstand en dus van luieren tot wandelen en fietsen. De regio heeft op culinair gebied (inclusief veel specifieke lokale producten) veel te bieden tegen zeer fijne prijzen, heeft prachtige middeleeuwse dorpen (ons buurdorp Sarnano staat op de lijst met mooiste dorpen in Italië), is niet overspoeld door toerisme en is echt overweldigend qua natuur (het groene hart van Italie), o.a. vanwege het National Park Monte Sibillini. Allemaal uiteraard te ontdekken vanuit onze agriturismo in Gualdo 😊!

Mocht je de volledige uitzending van Ik Vertrek van vanavond terug willen kijken dan kan dat via de onderstaande link. We hebben erg leuke (en veel) reacties op de uitzending gekregen. Erg leuk. We zijn dankbaar en willen het team van Ik Vertrek en Raymond en Joost in het bijzonder bedanken voor de deze mooie documentaire over onze wederopbouw in Italië.
Vanaf 22 april vliegt Transavia weer rechtsreeks van Rotterdam/Den Haag naar Perugia! Het vliegveld van Perugia ligt hier maar 1u15 rijden vandaan en is daarmee 1 van de gunstigste en alternatieven om bij ons te komen voor wie wil vliegen. Zo omzeil je Schiphol ook, gezien de problemen die daar ook komend seizoen weer verwacht worden. De vluchten gaan vooralsnog op zaterdag en woensdag. De andere 'directe' vlieg optie is Weeze/Ancona met ryanair. Ook het vliegveld van Ancona ligt hier 1u15 vandaan. Deze lijn start weer op 29 maart en ook hier voorlopig vluchten op de zaterdagen en de woensdagen.
